Qi Gong
Qigong is the art of developing energy, particularly for health, internal force and mind training. Qi is not obtained from Chi Kung alone. People normally obtain their Qi, or life energy, from the air they breathe and the food they eat. But practicing Qigong greatly enhances our energy, thus enabling us to get more out of life.
The practice of Qigong is like brushing your teeth or taking a daily shower. Since you wash your body everyday, why not wash your energy? Qigong washes, cleans, and purifies your personal energy. It feels like taking a shower on the inside, a shower of light. You begin to develop an impression of your body as less gray and heavy, more harmonious and transparent. The way you view things will be different as well, as if a windshield in front of your eyes had been cleaned off. You will feel this same brightness on the level of your heart and mind?on your emotions, consciousness, and attention?in a more subtle but no less real way.
This feeling of regeneration is evidence of a slowing down of the aging process. However, the real stakes are not just living to a truly ripe old age. The real stakes are living as long as possible in the best conceivable physical shape, both inside and out, as well as in peak mental, emotional, and spiritual form. This is a challenge well worth anyone's time and trouble.
Qigong, thus is a set of exercises involving development of the physical, mental and spiritual self. There are in excess of two hundred Qigong exercises and movements. They are generally classified as Hard Qigong and Soft Qigong.
Master Yang has developed a set of Qigong exercises named "Yuan Tong Treasured Efficacious Qigong Patterns" (Yuan Gong). Among the various sets of Qigong patterns in the world (especially in China), Yuan Gong has been famous for its conciseness, easy to master, safety, high effective and fast achieving results.
